Abstract (EN)
The aim of this thesis is to investigate the active and passive control of unsteady flow structure behind side-by-side two and three cylinders using two dimensional Particle Image Velocimetry (PIV) technique. Experiments were undertaken in a water channel in Fluid Mechanics Laboratory, Mechanical Engineering Department of Cukurova University. The important parameters of different control techniques were qualitatively investigated by dye visualization. Splitter plates, perforated cylinders, holes through cylinders were the methods for controlling unsteady flow structures. Secondly, PIV technique was applied to gain quantitative information for the control techniques mentioned above.
