Abstract (EN)

Indoor positioning has become a hot topic of research in recent years, owing to the rising demand for on-site services within buildings. This research focuses on indoor positioning using the IEEE 802.11 (WiFi) Wireless Ethernet protocol, which has the distinct advantage of being less expensive than other wireless indoor technologies. In general, most proposed wireless indoor positioning systems employ finger printing techniques, which are more precise than proximity detection based on radio signal propagation models. The aim of this research is to investigate various aspects of indoor positioning based on finger-printing WiFi location that may improve positioning accuracy without requiring the use of system orientation and without requiring a wider radio chart with additional measures of signal intensity in additional places.
