Abstract (EN)
The aim of this survey is to study the preference of leadership style of generation Y who is working, within the scope of Turkish management culture. Municipal employees at the ages of 18 and 36 working at an active county-mayor in Adana constitue the population of this survey. The participants whose ages are changing between 25 and 36 are II. and 18 and 25 are also evaluated as I. age-group generation Y in the survey. Starting with this difference, whether there is a differentiation or not at the preference of leadership style of the participants born in the first and second half of generation Y has been tried to be determined. One of the primary data acquisition methods questionnaire has been used in this survey. By handdelivery questionnaire forms consisting of two parts, the data has been gathered. To gather data in survey in the first part, some demografik characteristics (age, gender, marital status, educational level, job, total period of working and work experience) of participants have been viewed with "Personal Information Form'' made up by researcher upon the literature. Datas obtained in this survey have been analyzed using SPSS 22 (Statistical Package for Social Sciences for Windows 22.0) programme. To evaluate the datas; numbers, percentage, average and standard deviation have been used as illustrative statistical methods. Man Whitney U test has been used to compare quantitative consistent datas between two independent groups and Kruskall Whallis test has been used to compare quantitative consistent datas between more than two groups. The acquired findings have been evaluated in %95 confidence bounds and in %5 significance level. In this survey the confidence coefficient of Converter Leadership size alpha=0,724; the confidence coefficient of Interactionist Leadership size alpha=0,833; the confidence coefficient of Fatherly Leadership size alpha=0,774; the confidence coefficient of Manservant Leadership size alpha=0,867 have been obtained. As a result of this survey it has been achieved that the participants have adopted convertor leadership style more than interactionist, fatherly and manservant leadership styles and they they have preferred the fatherly leadership style the least. Also when the participants have been evaluated as being at two different age ranges, there has been statistically a significant difference between the preference scores of manservant leadership styles of I. and II. generation Y whereas it has been identified that there hasn't been statistically a significant difference between the preference scores of convertor, interactionist and fatherly leadership styles of I. and II. generation Y . And the results have been evaluated with the help of literature. Key Words: Generation Y, Leadership, Approaches of Leadership, Features of Leadership, Turkish Culture
