Modern trends in foreign language education

To make the foreign language teaching process at international standards and as qualified as possible, innovation and different perspectives in this field should be evaluated. This study aims to determine the methods that are becoming widespread in foreign language teaching. In the study, the history of paradigms in science, the needs of contemporary education, the approaches and methods used in teaching Turkish as a foreign language, and the trends in language teaching that are becoming more prevalent in the world are presented. The findings section examines language teaching policies and characteristics in Asia, the European Union, Kazakhstan, the Russian Federation, the United States of America, and Turkey. Based on all the data obtained, a cross-national comparison of similarities and differences in language education policies, instructional trends, and competencies expected of language teachers was made. It is hoped that this study will be useful for the further development of the field of teaching Turkish as a foreign language, as it is based on a literature review in Russian, English, Kazakh, and Turkish. Teaching Turkish, especially to foreigners is vital both for strengthening the position of Turkish among the world languages and keeping Turkic values and attitudes. In this context, foreign language teaching was evaluated within the language-culture-person triangle, and suggestions were made according to the results of the research.
