Comparison of word exercises in advanced level coursebooks in Turkish and English language teaching

Coursebooks are the most commonly used materials in the teaching process. The development of textbooks in terms of both design and content has a direct impact on the quality of the educational environment in which they are used. Therefore, the examination of coursebooks is important in terms of revealing and evaluating the missing sides and superior aspects in the context in which they are examined. It is possible for the individual to express himself better by the growth of vocabulary. As in the mother tongue, foreign language teaching is an important field of study and investigation. The main problem of the study is to explain the word activities in the coursebooks and workbooks in six sets in total. In the teaching of Turkish as a foreign language, Yeni Hitit, Yedi İklim and İstanbul advanced level coursebooks and workbooks, and in the teaching of English as a foreign language, Empower, Face2Face and New Headway advanced coursebooks and workbooks were discussed. Since some of the advanced language teaching sets do not contain teacher books, teacher books are excluded. The findings show that the teaching of Turkish as a foreign language should give more space to the multidimensional and holistic development of language skills. It is thought that the study will contribute to the field both in comparison of coursebooks and in the development of Turkish teaching books as a foreign language and in the evaluation of vocabulary teaching activities.
