Abstract (EN)

Language is an important tool in conveying individuals' feelings and thoughts. Therefore, language is a means of communication. With the increase in interaction in the world, people have had to communicate more with different cultures, and it has been observed that the need to learn other languages that are different from their mother tongue has increased. Using technology-compatible materials in language teaching to address this need is linked to both the current education system and the frequency of technology use of the target audience. In this context, it is observed that the use of technology in foreign language teaching is very important. It is known that there is a need for materials that will facilitate vocabulary learning and make it more permanent in foreign language teaching. When the literature was examined, it was determined that there were few studies on the effect of technology-based applications on vocabulary teaching. In the study conducted in this direction, "What and how is the effect of instructional technologies on teaching Turkish vocabulary as a foreign language?" Based on the question, it is aimed to reveal what and how the effect of Wordwall is in teaching Turkish vocabulary as a foreign language. Based on this purpose, mixed research method was used in the study. Quasi-experimental research was conducted in the quantitative research part of the study. In the study conducted with a total of 30 students at B2 level in two groups, the effect of Wordwall on the vocabulary of those learning Turkish as a foreign language was measured with a scale consisting of 50 words. The data obtained was analyzed with the SPSS program. Case study design was used in the qualitative research part. Data were collected from 30 students who constituted the experimental group of the research. In this context, an activity opinion form was used to determine the effect of Wordwall on learners' vocabulary knowledge. After obtaining the data, analysis was made with content analysis. As a result of the research, it was concluded that Wordwall made a significant difference in increasing the vocabulary knowledge of the learners. In the qualitative research part, according to the data obtained from the student activity pinion form, it was seen that positive opinions were more than negative opinions.
