Abstract (EN)
This thesis aims to understand or explain the extent to which Muslims lived Islam in the Early Modern Period of the Ottoman Empire, especially in the 16th and 17th centuries, the place of their faith in their daily lives, and the place of different Islamic understandings, scriptural Islam and Sufism in society through the observations of local and foreign travellers. Through the diaries, reports and travelogues left by eyewitnesses who visited the Ottoman countries as part of their duties or for the purpose of travelling, the place and influence of dervishes in the socio-cultural life of the Ottoman Empire are also examined.
