Abstract (EN)

The lubrication system is one of the most important systems that allows the engine to perform its task properly. Providing the necessary oil from the crankcase to the engine is maintaned by the oil pump. Oil pumps can be different types, volumes and have different operating systems. A hydraulic pump is the main part of the lubrication system and can be defined as a mechanical device that converts mechanical power into hydraulic energy such as flow, pressure. The two main parts that affect the weight of the oil pump are the housing and the cover. This study includes the thickness determination of the oil pumps' covers using the finite element method. The aim of the cover thickness determination is to reduce the fuel consumption with lighter component in any auto, to contribute the environmental regulations and to increase the competitiveness power of any automotive company by reducing the raw material costs.
