Abstract (EN)
In this study, the novel named Kiralık Konak which was written by Yakup Kadri Karaosmanoğlu in 1922 was examined in terms of thematic aspects. This study is commenced with an introduction including the theme of the novel. Thereafter, author's work is analyzed with pre-determined themes in the line of specific features of those symbolic characters, making the reader feel the soul of the period and the examples of each character exist in real life now and at that time as well. Both Mis-westernisation and conflict of the generations representing the base points of the book are especially emphasized several times and these two main problems existing in the centre of the book become more evident under the topics such as love, family life and friendship. Since the miswesternisation occurs firstly in the "family", as the place where the smallest part and core of the society; the location theme is mentioned in this sense like "mansion" was selected as the main place; manor house, waterside residence and finally an apartment. This article aims in this sense to form integrity by including the apparel and literal tendency used by the author in order to contextualise the conflict of three generations in the mansion which is the name of the novel and where the story takes place.
