Abstract (EN)
Chemical, biological, radiological and nuclear (CBRN) defense focuses on protecting society and living environments from hazardous and traumatic factors through mitigation strategies. Modern materials play an important role in protecting against exposure, neutralizing possible threats, increasing general durability and ensuring the body's resistance against CBRN agents and the negative consequences they cause. One of these products is wound dressings used for defense. Burns are a significant trauma that causes tissue damage and sometimes loss on the skin and requires urgent medical intervention. In burns, the protective area on the skin is damaged and the risk of infection increases, leading to increased morbidity and mortality. Millions of people are treated for burns every year in the world, and this leads to new treatment searches and productsIn addition to the properties of materials to be used in the medical field, it is a desired feature that they are biocompatible, renewable, natural and environmentally friendly. Especially in the global arena, newly developed wound dressings have the potential for widespread and priority use in the medical field. In addition, innovative studies are continuing rapidly to meet all the features expected from these materials. However, a functional and human body-compatible wound dressing that can meet all the features expected from an ideal and fully compatible wound dressing for the human body has not yet been produced. The functionality of ideal wound dressings during use will only be possible with nanofiber structures. Today, the production of original and versatile nanofibers by electrospinning method is quite advanced and promising. Wound dressings produced with this method provide the ideal structure of the environment in the wound area compared to products obtained with conventional methods and accelerate healing by playing a perfect therapeutic role in the wound area. Our thesis study aims to plan, design and manufacture a light, thin, soluble and functional nanofiber-based wound dressing containing an effective antimicrobial agent against Staphylococcus aureus bacteria, which is the most commonly detected infectious agent in traumatized wound areas and causes many morbidities and possible complications. In this thesis study, a functional new wound dressing was produced by using the electrospinning method and coating the nanofibers loaded with Hyaluronic acid, Collagen and Epidermal growth factor with a natural, biocompatible, biodegradable, non-toxic and cheap dressing material. Antibacterial activity test was applied to the nanofiber dressing materials obtained in our study. The surface morphology and characteristic features of these dressing materials were investigated using FT-IR, SEM and histopathological methods. The produced nanofiber wound dressings will allow the effectiveness of active ingredients with their porous and fibroblast-surface covering structures, while also providing rapid healing of burn wounds with their semi-permeable air permeability. As a result, the use of nanofiber wound dressings in burn wound care represents a significant advance and demonstrates biocompatibility to accelerate wound healing. As studies continue to improve the interactions of wound dressings with infected and complicated wound areas, the areas of use of these bioproducts in the clinic will become increasingly clear. However, more comprehensive clinical studies are needed to fully demonstrate the effectiveness of the dressings, optimize their applications, and pave the way for their global adoption in modern wound management.
