Abstract (EN)

The issue of energy is at the top of the agenda of the countries and is considered as an important element of sustainable development along with sustainable energy, sustainable environment and economy. The sustainable energy approach encompasses policies, technologies and practices that will ensure the uninterrupted supply of needed energy with minimum financing, minimum environmental and social costs. In this context; It is important to develop environmentally friendly energy strategies in order to minimize the negative effects and pollution that may occur in the environment in terms of efficient use of energy and energy saving, energy production and usage, increasing the use of renewable energy resources and increasing the technology capability in this field. Efficient use of energy is the reduction of the amount of energy required to serve a good or service without sacrificing the level of prosperity, without degrading quality and performance. The energy saving to be achieved as a result of the efficient use of energy is an energy source that can be obtained faster and cheaper. "Energy density" bir is a widely used criterion for monitoring and comparing the effective use of energy all over the world and is defined as the ratio of primary energy consumed per gross domestic product. The lower the energy density, usually shown as the amount of TEP consumed per $ 1000 output, the lower the energy spent per unit of output in a country, indicating that energy is being used efficiently. The energy density of our country is twice the OECD average and still per capita energy consumption is around one quarter of the OECD average. Although the energy density in developed countries tends to decrease with the measures taken, it tends to increase in our country. There is a great saving potential in all sectors. In this study, energy saving studies applied in industrial facilities in various regions of the world were examined, waste heat recovery systems and equipment were introduced. The studies of Kays And London on compact heat exchangers were examined and design calculations were made for offset finned heat exchangers by designing the waste heat recovery system planned to be implemented in a company in İzmir. As a result of the design calculations, 1/8-20,06 (D) model was chosen as the most efficient model for both hot and cold fluid sides of Kays and London. Then, the geometric dimensions such as fin height, fin thickness and fin density were changed on this model and the efficiency effects of these changes on the heat exchanger were examined. The most suitable fin density was 1054 m-1, fin thickness was 0.2 mm and fin height was 3.2 mm. The cost analysis of the project was made using the repayment period method and net present value method. The project was found to be profitable in the 4th year.
