Abstract (EN)

Building Information Modeling (BIM) has made significant contributions to increase production and productivity in the construction sector in many countries. Despite the fact that the construction sector in Turkey has made significant progress in recent years, the lack of effective construction management and information technology has minimized the added value of the construction sector to the economy. The use of the BIM is of great importance for achieving further progress and reaching the global targets for the construction sector in Turkey. The present study aims to propose a strategic roadmap for BIM adoption to the Turkish construction sector. With this perspective, SWOT analysis was conducted to determine the current state of the use of the BIM, its strengths and weaknesses, opportunities and threats for its applicability in Turkey, and individual interviews were conducted to determine the most appropriate strategy. In addition, the world's best accepted practices of the BIM implementation were investigated. The study also aims to contribute to the related literature by emphasizing the importance of education, technological adaptation, public incentives and sanctions as well as the roadmap strategy.
