Usage of Plants on the Buildings İn Order to Relief the Arms of Lessening the Green Areas Because of Building In this thesis, the negative effects of intensifying urbanization and technological advancements that decrease green areas and impact urban living conditions have been addressed by using plant usage in buildings to reduce these effects. For this purpose, the status of green area systems and standards has been evaluated from a city scale to a building scale from the past to the present. Plant usage systems at the building level have been classified, and the need for determining an application-based value for this requirement has been emphasized. The analysis of green area requirements has been carried out to explain the purposes and factors that require plant usage in buildings. Based on the relationship matrices established between these purposes and factors, variable groups related to plant usage in buildings have been determined using a systemic approach. By emphasizing the importance of "region types" among the identified variable groups, the "factor analysis" method has been used, and four different region types varying according to three main factors have been determined by evaluating Istanbul data. As the main control variable that varies according to region types in plant usage in buildings, the "Green Usage Coefficient in Buildings" (GUCB) has been defined. According to this definition, using specific calculation approaches and statistical methods on existing application examples, approximate values for GUCB have been determined for each region type, which are 0.50, 0.40, 0.30, and 0.20. The relationships between the determined values and other main variables have been explained, and the relationships between GUCB and GCR ( Building Footprint Area / Site Area ) and FAR (Total Floor Area / Site Area ) which is main variables have been revealed. Accordingly, the proportions of GUCB on the building and land surface have been indicated as (GUCB)Bmin and (GUCB)Amin, and the values of (GUCB)Bmin, which are the proportions of GUCB on the building, both inside and outside the building, have been provided as approximate recommendation values. By evaluating tables and graphs, certain situations that arise with varying GUCB according to regions have been identified, and different KAKS boundary values have been determined. These situations are cases where plant usage on natural land is insufficient and plant usage on the building is necessary, as well as cases where plant usage on the building is greater than that on natural land. The determined GUCB control variable has been analyzed according to plant usage systems in buildings, considering its proportions in the building as (GUCB)Amin, (GUCB)Bmin, (GUCB)Bi, and (GUCB)Bd.
