Abstract (EN)

In this thesis, it is purposed to describe the structural control systems used in structural design in recent years to prevent the structure from the effects of dynamic loads such as winds and earthquakes. Structural control systems are classified and the characteristic properties of each system and the factors that effect these properties are explicated in this scope. For the most appropriate design, systems are compared with each other, than, the working principle of these systems are tried to explained by giving different examples in many countries. By using five-storied building as a model, the numerical application concerning structural control systems is done with a computer program SAP 2000 Nl Version 9.03. Because of not having any regulation about design of structural control system in our country, firstly relevant clauses of the ?Uniform Building Code 97? are researched than necessary geometrical and mechanical properties of the design are determined in accordance with regulation of UBC-97. The structure is analyzed under three conditions; fixed base, base isolated and with dampers according to the earthquake acceleration values which has recorded in the date of 17 August 1999, in Yarımca-Petkim.. As a result; displacement, relative displacement and acceleration values at assigned nodal points and axial force, shear force and moment values of link elements are compared on tables for every conditions to emphasize the importance of structural control systems on structural design
