Abstract (EN)

Molybdenum; Although it was discovered in 1782, it was first used in the production of armor in 1891 as an alloying element. It's hard, robust and heat resistant alloy is used in many industrial areas today. It is extracted as a second product in copper mines and, like many elements, is found in trace amounts. In this study, a sensitive method was developed for the analysis of molybdenum element with atomic absorption spectrophotometer using slotted quartz tube-atom trap in order to analyze low quantities. Methanol, ethanol, n-butanol, acetone, benzene, MIBK (methyl isobutyl ketone), acetic acid, phosphoric acid, chloroform and their two mixtures were used in this study. Optimum conditions such as xanthate amount, optimum solvent, mixing time, mixing time after solvent addition, air flow rate, gas flow rate were determined at a wavelength of 313.3 nm (with deuterium). 2 mL Concentrated Hydrochloric acid (20 seconds mixing time), 2 mL 0.25 M Potassium Ethyl Xantate, 1 mL Benzene added to the molybdenum solution and mixed for 5 minutes, 50 μL sample was taken from the prepared mixture and analyzed in 2.4 L/min air at 313.3 nm wavelength and 18 L/min Acetylene mixture. The calibration curve was linear between 10-60 mg L-1 Mo concentrations, and the LOD was 2.52 µg/mL, and the LOQ was 8.39 µg/mL.
