Abstract (EN)

This thesis aims to study the pedestrianisation of Istanbul Street in Düzce with respect to landscape architecture. In the first place, the concepts of "pedestrian", "pedestrian zones" and "pedestrian traffic" are focused on to emphasize and highlight their importance and the necessity for the urban life. The functional qualities of pedestrianisation on urban planning and urban design along with the problems that faced during the application & progress phase studied. The incapacity of Istanbul Street pedestrian zones are underlined with the aim of creating a open space people can use every hour of the day, children can play safely without exposure to vehicle traffic and last but not the least a space for Düzce to breathe. Besides, The history of Düzce with respect to urban planning and how İstanbul district has been affected by that chain in order to shape up andtake today's Outlook. Personal observation and survey methods has been used for the research of İstanbul Street pedestrian zone. Suggestions has been developed due to the users' expectations, tendencies, problems and the levels of their contentments about theplace's physical and social qualities.
