Abstract (EN)

Today, digital media platforms have gained an important place in the daily lives of individuals and have become structures that process various personal data of users. In this study, the privacy agreements of widely used digital media platforms (WhatsApp, Instagram, Facebook, YouTube, Telegram, Bip, TikTok and X) were examined in terms of the Personal Data Protection Law (KVKK). In the first part of the research, the basic concepts, purpose, scope and general principles of KVKK were discussed. In the second part, the user agreements and privacy policies of the relevant digital media platforms were analyzed in detail, and how personal data is collected, processed and stored was revealed. In the third part, the compliance of these platforms with KVKK was evaluated and possible legal and ethical problems were discussed. As a result of the study, it was determined that the vast majority of digital media platforms have various deficiencies in the processes of collecting and processing user data and have difficulty in full compliance with KVKK. In this context, it was concluded that users should be made aware of their personal data and more transparent data processing policies should be adopted.
