An analysis about the translation of literature texts into different languages and cultures `translation of children?s literature?

In this study, we discussed the translation of children?s literature products which are an important area of literary texts on the basis of cultural function in language. For this aim, we analyzed the German language novel ? Tintenherz?, and it?s Turkish and English translations. ?Tintenherz? is one of the novels of Cornelia Funke, an important German author of children?s literature. In our analysis we have taken into account the etymologic and morphologic differantations and similarities of these three languages.Our study consist of three sections. In the first section we discussed the translation phenomen, translation theories, translated literary texts, children?s literature as an important field of literary texts, the general principles of children?s literary and the important points which need to be taken into account while in the process of transfering the concepts which are listed above into different cultures.In the second section we gave a summary of the novel ?Tintenherz?, the biography of the author and her language and manner of expression. Short biographies of both translators to Turkish and English are also provided.In the third section, at first we typhographicaly compared the source language novel and it?s Turkish and English versions. Then we detected the problem in terms of clarity of the text units according to Turkish understanding. We exhaustivly evaluated these text parts in eight titles and proposed concrete solutions.After reviewing the text parts we established that language games, idioms and implicit expressions were the most compelling text parts for translators. The other sence blurs originated from syntax, culture specific words, collocations, and semantics. We demonstrated these establishments with quantitative data. In addition, we established that the morphological and cultural similarities of German and English language decrease the translation problems and morphocultural differentations of German and Turkish languages play an important role in these translation problems.Key Words: Literary texts, Translation, Children?s literature, Morphological differentations, Etimologic differentations.
