Abstract (EN)

The basic principle of the ProSPIN® spinning system, which is a new method in modified ring spinning, is based on the roving which fed into a unit in the ring spinning machine at the exit of the drafting system is separated into two strands by the use of specially designed compactor and later the two separate and compacted fibre strands are unified by taking the twist from the ring-traveler system to form the yarn. In this study, it is aimed to examine the carded and combed yarns produced using ProSPIN and conventional ring spinning systems and the knitted and woven fabric properties obtained from these yarns. For this purpose, using the 100% cotton and 60% bamboo-40% cotton raw materials and choosing various yarn counts and two different twist coefficients, the equivalent ProSPIN and ring yarns were produced in the Rieter G33. Then knitted and woven fabrics were produced using some of these yarns and these knitted fabrics were made through a simple pretreatment process and the properties of both raw and bleached fabrics were examined. The yarn properties examined in the study are breaking strength, breaking elongation, mass irregularity, various yarn defects and hairiness. The fabric properties examined in the study are dimensional changes and spirality after washing, bursting strength, abrasion and pilling properties for knitted fabrics; for woven fabrics, it is the properties of drape, breaking strength, breaking elongation, tear strength, abrasion and pilling. The t-test analysis method was used to evaluate the data obtained from the tests and measurements on the yarns and fabrics produced. As a result it is determined that ProSPIN yarns and fabrics produced from these yarns show significant positive differences especially in some yarn and fabric properties compared to conventional ring yarns and fabrics produced from these yarns.
