Abstract (EN)
Scintillation detectors have a wide range of uses as radiation spectroscopy in nuclear, particle and medical physics. These detector systems are also prefered in nuclear power plants, experimentation and research laboratories for radiation safety. In this thesis, a ring PET (Positron Emission Tomography) and ECAT devices system were modelled with new generation scintillation materials in GEANT4 simulation. The medical image properties were investigated by analyzing the coincidence time measurements and sinogram data (tomography data) obtained from the PET device modelled with different detector systems. Thus, the usability of detector systems, which are formed by optically combining new generation electronic systems (SiPMs) and recently discovered scintillation materials, in PET devices has been examined.
