PERÇİN, Başak. Historical Comparative Phonetics of New Uigur Turkish, Master Thesis, Ankara, 2008.In our study we compared with the words in Uygursko-russkiy slovar? which is one of the most comprehensive dictionary of Uigur language and contains 33 000 words, to the words of Divanü Lûgat-it-Türk which is one of the most important dictionary of the old turkish language. We examined the common words in this two dictionaries in terms of phonetics and set differences and similarities between the New Uigur and the Old Turkish languages. At the same time the words, origined from Arabic and Persian languages, is compared with the word forms of the New Uigur Turkish in terms of phonetics.Metarial of this study is not limited to this two dictionaries. When it is necessary, other dictionaries and works were used. For the original forms of the excerpt words, Arabic, Persian and Ottoman Turkish dictionaries were also used.This study is also one of the first historical comparative studies between the New Uigur Turkish and the Old Turkish.In conclusion of our study, it is understood that this two languages do not show any important differences in terms of phonetics and there is still a lot of similarities in written languages of them. It is also seen that the New Uigur Turkish comes under very little exchange.For this reason, vocabulary of the Old Turkish leaves a legally to the New Uigur Turkish.Key Words: New Uigur Turkish, Old Turkish, Uighurs, Phonetics, Historical Comparative.
