An application to concept the local history subjects with the history units in social science curriculum (6. class): For instance the Pasinler

II SUMMARY This research concerns the teaching of local history and effect the local history has on the approach and attitude of the student to this subject. The aim of this research is to clarify the importance of teaching local history and its effects on students while teaching its various aspects. The first part of this research deals with local history, the teaching of local history, the methods of teaching local history, the pedagogical basis of teaching local history, the subjects related to local history, and the relation between social science, and the aspects of history in accordance with the aims of local history teaching. The second part concerns the method of connecting the local history lessons to the history units of the social science (6, Class) programme. The proplem is defined, a model curriculum is given and the pre-test and final-test avestions which are used in the application of the program are evalvated. Moreover, the students' attitudes and observations and also evalvations of assignment given to the students have been included. Findings and comments related to the problem have been referred to. At the end conclusions and suggestions are discussed. This research was carried out during the social science lessons at the Mehmet Akif Ersoy Elementary School in Pasinler near Erzurum. The pre-test and the final-test and the model curriculum concerning the relation between the results of the tests and local history have been prepared and applied by the researcher.
