Abstract (EN)
It is observed that countries release more carbon emissions into the atmosphere as their energy consumption increases during the economic growth process. In cases where this process is not accompanied by development, countries experience growth that pollutes the environment, in other words, reduces the welfare of future generations. Therefore, even though economies have grown, it is not possible to call this process development. At this point, the concept of green economy stands out as an approach that suggests that economic policies that take environmental degradation into account should be followed. This study aims to reveal the relationship between green economy and human development index in the case of Turkey. In this context, green patent, carbon emissions, energy consumption and Human Development Index data between 1980 and 2018 were used. According to the findings obtained from the causality analysis results; It has been concluded that human development index, carbon emissions and energy consumption are the reasons for the green economy in the Granger sense.
