Waste management applied in food and beverage department of hoteloperations under green marketing: The case of Afyonkarahisar province

Today, green marketing has been widely applied all over the world. One of the application areas of green marketing is hotel businesses. In this context, while applying green marketing, the effort of hotel businesses to minimize the damage to the environment is highlighted. The management of the wastes of the consumed and produced products is important at this point. What kind of practices, what kind of trainings, and knowledge levels of the personnel in the enterprise in terms of waste management have been measured. The opinions of hotel managers and employees on waste management, what kind of support businesses receive and What kind of the earnings the businesses were evaluated. In this context, the aim of the study is to examine the waste management applied in the food and beverage departments of hotel enterprises within the scope of green marketing. This research was carried out in 9 hotel businesses operating in afyonkarahisar city center. Qualitative approach was used in the research. A clearer and more transparent result was obtained by using the interview technique. The most important factor of the research is that the level of awareness of employees and managers is high. However, the investment made by the investors in their businesses and personnel is decisive in the strategy on waste management. The support provided to the investor by the local government plays a decisive role by business managers and investors.
