Abstract (EN)

There are many different views about the origin of Yazidis and the historical process they have gone through. Yazidis have the belief of one God called Huda that is accepted as absolute, eternal and everlasting. Melek Tavus has an important place in Yazidis belief. Sheikh Adiy bin Musafir is accepted as the consultant and the leader of this belief. Kitab-ı Cilve and Mushaf-ı Resh are the holly books of this belief. There are no temples for daily worships in this belief. Worship are done individually. Pray, fast, pilgrimage, offering, sacrifice are basic worships of Yazidis. The people in Caste system, having a great deal in Yazidis' belief, are devided into two basic groups, such as Murids and Clerics. Murids consist of one class whereas Clerics consist of different classes. The ban of converting and intermarriage are the most evident features of Caste system. At present time Yazidis live in many different countries primarily in Iraq, Iran, Syria, Turkey, Armenia, Georgia, Russia and Germany. In our country, they are inhabited in Şanlıurfa, Diyarbakır, Batman, Mardin and Şırnak. Keywords: Yazidism, Melek Tavus, Sheikh Adiy bin Musafir, Mushaf-ı Reş, Batman, Beşiri
