Abstract (EN)

This study, which was planned and conducted as a descriptive and cross-sectional, was conducted to evaluate intensive care nurses' knowledge towards feding and care practices in patients with gastrostomy. The universe of the study consisted of nurses working in intensive care units at hospitals which is affiliated to Directorate of Public Hospitals-6 between May 2024- July 2024, and the sample consisted of 134 intensive care nurses who were willing/volunteered to participate in the study after obtaining the necessary permissions. The data were collected using a questionnaire form prepared by the researcher through a literatüre review. The results were evaluated at a %95 confidence interval and significance was p<0.05 (two-sided). All statistical calculations were performed using SPSS software version 27 (IBM Corp., Armonk, NY, USA). Intensive care nurses' knowledge towards feeding and care practices in PEG was calculated in order 12,90±1,15(interval, 10-15) and 23,29±2,31 (interval, 16-29). Based on the result, it was determined that intensive care nurses' knowledge towards feeding practices scores were %85.9 and care practices scores were %77.6. When the relationship between nurses' knowledge level of PEG nutrition and care practices was examined, it was determined that as the knowledge level of PEG nutrition practices increased, the knowledge level of PEG care practices also increased statistically significantly.
