Abstract (EN)

The aim of this thesis study is to reveal the participants' attitudes towards poverty. For this purpose, 360 participants aged 18 and older than 18 in the center of Balıkesir were reached in the study. In the research, the attitude scale towards poverty prepared by Serpil KURT was used. A face-to-face survey was administered to the participants. According to the results of exploratory factor analysis, it was seen that the answers were distributed into four factors: "perception of poverty", "causes of poverty", "poverty-education relationship" and "optimistic" dimension. Four factors explain 56,100% of the total variance. As a result of the test, the "Cronbach Alpha" reliability coefficient was found to be 80%. As a result of the multiple regression analysis, age, education and profession have an effect on the perception of poverty. Education and profession have an impact on the attitude towards the causes of poverty. There is no effect of socio-demographic variables on the attitude towards poverty-education relationship. Gender and education have an impact on optimistic attitude.
