Determining the instrumental effect of life satisfaction on the relationship between manager support and phychological wellbeing: A study on teachers

Manager support is one of the important issues that every employee working in the education sector will always need in their business life. Due to the fact that the most valuable capital of the education sector in the rapidly globalizing world is human, the approach of corporate organizations to their employees and the value they attach to them have increased. Every behavior seen as positive by teachers and other employees working in the education sector directly increases the success of the corporate organization. In this context, the feeling of psychological well-being of the working personnel in the working environment can be seen as an element that increases the life satisfaction of the individual. However, the level of support necessary for the employee's life satisfaction is also very important. When the literature on the variables in the research is examined, it is seen that the studies on public institutions are few and insufficient. Therefore, the aim of this research is to determine the mediating role of life satisfaction in the relationship between administrator support and psychological well-being of teachers registered to the Provincial Directorate of National Education working in Osmaniye. In the research, firstly, the concepts of managerial support, psychological well-being and life satisfaction were mentioned, and then the relations between these concepts were examined at the organizational level. After obtaining the necessary permissions to conduct research within the scope of ethical rules, 300 questionnaires were distributed to the teachers registered to the Provincial Directorate of National Education working in Osmaniye, using the convenience sampling method, and 257 questionnaires were returned. Since there were no missing answers in any of the returned questionnaires, the study continued with these questionnaires. Within the scope of the analysis of the obtained data set, confirmatory factor analysis, correlation analysis for examining the relations between variables, regression analysis for finding the effect between variables, mediation test, comparison analysis between variables and structural equation modeling analyzes for path analysis were used. When the direct effect model is examined, manager support, which is the independent variable, positively affects the dependent variable, psychological well-being (p<0.05). According to these results, the basic criteria for the mediation requirement were met. As a result, it was revealed that life satisfaction statistically partially mediated the effect of managerial support on psychological well-being (p>0.05).
