Abstract (EN)
This doctoral thesis study; It was carried out with a qualitative (individual in-depth interview method) and quantitative (methodological method) design in order to determine the views of nurse managers on crisis readiness and to develop a measurement tool to measure the crisis readiness of nurse managers. The sample of the research was 45 nurse managers in the first phase, "the qualitative phase"; In the second phase, "the quantitative phase", 550 nurse managers were recruited. While "Semi-Structured Interview Form" was used as a data collection tool in the first stage, the 55-item "Manager Nurses' Crisis Readiness Scale" draft was used in the second stage. Qualitative data were analyzed using MAXQDA 2020 and quantitative data were analyzed using SPSS 22.0 program. From the qualitative data, crisis perception (being sudden and unexpected, following certain patterns, requiring a holistic perspective, differing according to the working position, disruption of order), the institution's approach to crisis situations (before, during and after the crisis)" and manager nurses' approach to crisis situations (managerial role and responsibility, nurse human resources management, material/stock management, physical structure-equipment management, communication management, self-management situation/self-empowerment). Three main themes and sub-themes were obtained. In the quantitative phase of the research; The 72-item draft scale was submitted to expert opinion, 5 items were removed after expert opinion, and the content validity index was found to be 0.96. By applying exploratory factor analysis to the 55-item draft scale created in line with expert opinions and the recommendations of the thesis monitoring jury, a 44-item structure was obtained, then confirmatory factor analysis was performed and according to the results, goodness-of-fit index values were Chi-square/df (cmin/df) (1.43), CFI (1.00), NNFI (1.00), NFI (0.99), IFI (1.00), GFI (1.00), SRMR (0.045), RMSEA (0.028) values were determined within good fit limits. The reliability of the scale over time was evaluated with the test-retest method with 41 participants, and it was found that there was no significant difference between the two measurements (p>0.05). The total Cronbach's Alpha value of the scale was obtained as 0.975, the crisis perception sub-dimension is 0.740, the ınstitution's approach to crisis situations (pre-crisis) sub-dimension is 0.925, the ınstitution's approach to crisis situations (crisis moment) sub-dimension is 0.937, the ınstitution's approach to crisis situations (post-crisis) sub-dimension is 0.937. It was determined that the sub-dimension of manager nurses' approach to crisis situation (manager nurse) was 0.966 and 0.969. Additionally, it was determined that there were statistically significant relationships between the scale total and its sub-dimensions (p<0.01). The results of the research showed that it is important for the manager nurses participating in the study to receive crisis management and hospital disaster planning training, to take an active role in the preparation of crisis plans, and to have senior management support in order to be ready for a crisis. In the second stage of the study, it was determined that the Nurse Managers' Crisis Readiness Scale developed was a valid and reliable measurement tool and could be used to determine the preparedness level of manager nurses.
