Abstract (EN)
This descriptive study which aims to identify the proffessional values of manager nurses has been conducted with the participation of 98 volunteer head nurses at two university hospitals and one state hospital in Adana province. In the study, personal information form which has been developed viewing the literature and 5-point Likert-style Nurses Professional Values Scale developed by Weis and Schank in 2000 and adapted into Turkish language by Orak in 2005 have been used. All permissions required for the study and approval of the ethics committee, and verbal approval of the participants have been obtained. Data have been collected by the researcher between 15.09.2018-15.01.2019 by face to face interview method. SPSS Statistics 24 package program has been used for statistical analysis of the data. Frequency charts, descriptive statistics, independent sample-t, ANOVA, Tukey, Mann-Whitney U, Kruskal-Wallis H tests have been used to evaluate the data. The mean age of the participants is 40.09 ± 5.69, and it has been determined that 93.9% of them are females and 71.4% are undergraduate. The total score average value of the professional values scale of the participating nurses has been found to be 123.23 ± 18.54. In the study, the internal consistency coefficient of the scale has been found to be 0.91, human dignity dimension to be 0.89, responsibility dimension to be 0.87, mobilization to be 0.85, safety to be 0.88 and autonomy sub-dimension to be 0.87. It has been observed that there is no relationship between socio-demographic and occupational characteristics and professional values except for age. A positive, high and statistically significant relationship has been found between human dignity and responsibility, mobilization and autonomy sub-dimensions of the Nurses Professional Values Scale (p <0.05). A positive, high and statistically significant relationship has been found between the total score of the Nurses Professional Values Scale and all other sub-dimensions (p <0.05). It has been found that the scores obtained by the nurses from the professional values scale are high and only age factor is effective on the scale.
