Abstract (EN)

This study aims to determine the relationship between the levels of work stress and the democratic perceptions of managers and teachers. The research was conducted with administrators and teachers working in public schools in central of Isparta. The research is a descriptive study using relational screening model. The data were obtained by using the scale of work stress that was developed by House and Rizzo and translated into Turkish by Efeoğlu and the scale of organizational democracy developed by Geçkil and Tikici. According to the results of the study, it was seen that the gender of administrators and teachers predicted work stress negatively. It was determined that male participants perception of job stress was higher than female participants. However, as a result of the analysis, it was seen that the duty period of the administrators and teachers in the profession did not significantly predict the perception of work stress. It was observed that the perception of participation and transparency, which is one of the sub-dimensions of organizational democracy, did not significantly predict job stress levels of administrators and teachers. However, it was observed that the perception of justice significantly predicted the stress levels of teachers and administrators negatively. This finding it can be interpreted that as the fair attitude of the managers towards the employees increases, the work stress of the personnel decreases. It was observed that the perception of equality significantly predicted the stress levels of teachers and administrators negatively. This finding it can be interpreted that as the perception of equality in the institution increases, job stress decreases. The perception of accountability significantly predicts job stress levels of administrators and teachers positively. This finding it can be interpreted that as the perception of accountability increases, job stress increases. The fact that managers and teachers are always accountable, supervised and all stakeholders have high expectations may cause them to feel pressure on them. Based on the research findings, suggestions were made to reduce the work stress experienced by administrators and teachers and to develop a culture of democracy in the institution.
