Abstract (EN)
The ethical problems faced in the business world and the insecurity, instability and loss of dignity caused due to them has rendered business ethics to be of greater importance in the recent years. Business ethics has come to be considered as much as productivity, profitability and quality for decision making processes, attitude and behaviour formation, and in the manufacturing of products and services. This situation has affected service oriented businesses as well. For this reason, a questionnaire form has been distributed to 400 workers of the public institution Marmaray, which is related to the TCDD (Turkish Republic State Railways). This research has been carried out in order to reveal how the practice of business ethics in human resource management affects work satisfaction and low performance. Plenty of data have been gathered and it has been detected that ethical practices affect work satisfaction in a positive way while non ethical practices affect it in a negative way. However, no absolutely significant relationship between ethical practices in human resources and work performance has been detected. The reason for this can be said to be the fact that an effective performance evaluation system is not used in the public sector. Implications and suggestions that come out of this research have been discussed and limitations have been reviewed.
