Application proposal for Çankırı Karatekin University in the context of wayfinding design

The research aims to develop a user-oriented and accessible design for these designs by analysing the guidance designs on Çankırı Karatekin University campus from a graphic design perspective. Information and guidance systems were tried to be considered not only as information transfer tools, but also as basic components that strengthen corporate identity and support communication strategies by enriching the user experience. Graphic design is thought to have an impact on the efficiency of education and training processes and student satisfaction with its function of facilitating access to information and ensuring that information is presented in a clear, accurate and understandable manner. In the study, the orientation designs on the campus of Çankırı Karatekin University were examined using qualitative research method; graphic design principles were analysed through descriptive analysis by classifying them within the framework of accessibility and inclusiveness themes. In addition to the national and international literature review, the functionality of the guidance systems were analysed in terms of functionality and graphic design by examining the campus. The findings show that the existing designs comply with certain standards in some aspects, but have aspects that need to be improved especially in terms of accessibility and user orientation. In this direction, a guidance design proposal is presented to overcome the deficiencies.
