Abstract (EN)

In our country, along with earthquakes, one of the types of disasters frequently occurring along active fault zones is landslides. When the Disaster and Emergency Management Presidency (AFAD) data are taken into consideration, Erzurum province ranks first in our country according to the number of landslide occurrences. In this study, landslide susceptibility analysis of Upper Karasu Watershed between Aziziye-Aşkale (Erzurum) section was performed by using frequency ratio method. The study area consists of the intersection boundaries of 32 topographic maps of 1/25000 scale. In the study area, 1/25000 scale geological map was prepared by taking advantage of the studies conducted by MTA. In the region, from the Early Paleozoic to the Quaternary, 14 different formations were separated. For landslide susceptibility analysis, 334 landslides were recorded and landslide inventory maps were prepared with field work. While the randomly selected 20% was evaluated during the control and performance phases, 80% of the existing landslides were used in the analyzes. In the production of landslide susceptibility map, from geological factors lithology and fault proximity parameters, from topographic factors elevation, slope gradient and slope aspect, slope curvature parameters and from environmental factors land use and rivers proximity parameters were used. In this study, landslide susceptibility map was produced by utilizing the frequency ratio method and 5 different susceptibility classes were differentiated. Then, the performance analysis of the susceptibility map was carried out by overlaying the susceptibility map with the existing landslides. In the produced susceptibility map, 55.02% of the total study area and 89.1% of the existing landslides were determined in high and very high susceptible areas. This situation shows that the landslide susceptibility map obtained in this study can be used successfully.
