Abstract (EN)

Magnesium alloys used in aerospace, aircraft, automotive, electronics and other sectors are an important material. Magnesium is the lightest of all design materials. Welding besides casting is also applied to the parts produced from these materials to join. Because of the widespread use of these materials new production methods are also needed. In this study, die-cast magnesium alloys AM60B produced by high-pressure is joined with CO2 laser welding of 0.65; 0.80; 1.10 mm diameter focused laser beam. Welding width, penetration depth and surface appearance of these samples have been investigated in detail. Microstructures of the main material, the transition zone and the welding zone were also investigated. In order to determine the mechanical properties of the samples tensile and hardness tests were applied. As a result, 0,65 mm focus diameter laser welding has the highest tensile strength. These samples broke out in the main material. Also, maximum depth of welding was observed by these parameters. Small amount of porosity and cracks were seen in the microstructure of the welding zone. Depending on increasing focus diameter of the laser welding, penetration has been reduced and successful joining has not been obtained. Microhardness values have been changed in welding and transition zones.
