Abstract (EN)

Within the scope of the thesis study, it is aimed to examine the strength and durability performance of concretes, which are also named as sustainable new generation geopolymer or alkali activated concrete. In this context, different alkali activated concretes were produced by using low calcium content F-type fly ash and ground granulated blast furnace slag at 25% and 75% respectively. Within the scope of the thesis, 3 binder amounts were used: 400 kg / m3, 500 kg / m3 and 600 kg / m3. The ratios of 0.45 to 0.55 were used as alkali activator / binder amount ratios. Sodium silicate and sodium hydroxide were used at the ratio of 2.5 / 1 as alkaline activator. The molarity of sodium hydroxide was chosen as 14 M. The change of chemical durability of the 6 different alkali activated concretes was investigated over time by waiting from both laboratory and 5% sulfuric acid solutions until the 28th, 120th and 150th days. Within the scope of the thesis, the change in the sample surfaces due to 5% sulfuric acid, the change in the sample weights and the change in the compressive strength were examined in detail. This thesis study is important in terms of reducing the negative impact of Portland cement concrete on the environment we live in, reducing energy requirement and utilizing waste materials in concrete production. As a result, it is possible to use these new generation alkali activated concretes in today's structures as they show high mechanical strength and good sulfuric acid durability. There is a need for new studies on these new generation concretes in order to standardize the use of alkali activated concretes in buildings and to adopt the necessary regulations.
