Abstract (EN)
In countries where iron, steel and non-ferrous metal production sectors are widespread, refractory designs of industrial furnaces operating at high temperatures are important in terms of efficiency. The purpose of modeling industrial furnace refractories with computational fluid dynamics is to ensure that the liquid metal flow maintains the process at the most optimum level with the refractories in the furnace. In this study, flow analysis was performed with ANSYS Fluent for two different designs of Eccentric Bottom Tap-Hole (EBT) block brick of an industrial electric arc furnace (EAF) operating at high temperatures. First of all, molten metal flow analysis was performed on cylindrical EBT block brick, which is widely used in the industry. In the second design, molten metal flow analysis was performed on the conical EBT block brick, which is not used in the industry. Conical EBT was designed by analyzing the molten metal in the Fluent environment in order to provide the most optimum flow. As a result of the analysis, it was concluded that the conical EBT design can cast at lower turbulence and higher speed than the straight EBT design.
