The effect of age and breeding systems on the quality criteria of egg chicken

This research was conducted to determine the egg internal and external quality criteria of different age and breeding systems in laying hens. In the experiment, two different cultivation systems, cage and ground (with deep bases) were applied. Hy-Line brown laying hens of foreign origin were used as animal material. Internal and external quality characteristics were examined in 30 eggs randomly taken from each group, from 28 weeks of age, when the level of productivity reached peak levels, up to 52 weeks of age from both breeding systems. According to the breeding systems, egg external quality features; egg weight average was significant (P <0.05), shape index, egg shell thickness, shell breaking resistance values were found insignificant (P> 0.05). Egg internal quality features; The difference between growing systems in terms of white index, haugh unit, yellow index, pH and yellow color L (brightness) is statistically insignificant (P> 0.05), egg yolk color a* (redness), b* (yellowness) and E value were determined to be important (P <0.05). According to the age, It was determined that the difference between breeding systems, egg weight, shape index, egg shell thickness, shell breaking resistance, L (Brightness), white index, Haugh unit, yellow index and pH in chickens raised in the cage system is statistically significant (P <0.05). In the ground system, it was determined that it is important in terms of egg weight, shell thickness, yellow index, a* (redness), b* (yellowness), and E Value. (P <0.05). As a result; In the study examining the breeding system and the age factor in Hy-Line brown layer hybrids, it was determined that the internal and external quality features of the eggs were not affected by the breeding systems, but there were significant differences in the internal and external quality characteristics of both breeding systems with age.
