Abstract (EN)
In this thesis, soil samples were taken from certain points in Canca Neighborhood, Alemdar Village, Sargınkaya Village and Tekke Village in the Central District of Gümüşhane and they were subjected to a series of laboratory experiments. In order to determine the soil properties of the samples, as well as the water content and electrical resistance measurements of each soil sample in the laboratory, sieve analysis, liquid limit and plastic limit tests were performed. In addition, by comparing the obtained water content values and electrical resistances; The relationship between these two parameters of the ground was tried to be revealed. In the analyzes performed using the data obtained from soil samples taken from all regions, the highest correlation coefficients between water content and electrical resistance were obtained by exponential functions. From the graphs of Alemdar region, R2 (correlation coefficient) values were found to vary between 0.2366-0.4271, and as a result of the evaluation, a weak-medium correlation was observed between the water content and electrical resistance in this region. For the Canca region, there is a high-to-very high correlation between water content and electrical resistance, with R2 values ranging from 0.6521 to 0.8377. R2 values obtained from the graphs of Sargınkaya region vary between 0.004-0.7417 and there is a very weak-high correlation between the two parameters. R2 values obtained from the graphs of the Tekke region ranged between 0.2849-0.7263, while a highly variable (weak-high correlation) correlation was obtained between them. When the relations according to the types of clays found in soils are evaluated, the correlation coefficients of Canca and Tekke soils containing kaolinite clay are weak-very high. On the other hand, the relationship in the Alemdar region with illite clay content is weak-medium. In the soil of Sargınkaya region which contains illit-smectite clay group, it varies from very weak to high level. As a result; with the evaluation of all the data obtained, it was concluded that the changes in the correlation coefficient between the water content and electrical resistance values of the soil samples for the four regions vary depending on the geological composition of the different soil samples taken from the regions.
