Abstract (EN)

The subject of this dissertation is to increase the existing CBR value of subgrade by stabilization with the addition of cationic bitumen emulsion C60B2. The economical advantages and thicknesses of the layers that are creating the highway are compared between the one designed with the stabilized subgrade CBR value and the one with the non stabilized one. The materials which are used in this study are aggregate which has different gradation and C60B2 bitumen emulsions. Various experiments are carried out on the specimens which comply with the technical specifications. The specimens are mixed with each other and consequently stabilisation of bitumen emulsion-soil are created. Various experiments are carried out in laboratory for determining the stabilisation specimens' bearing capacities' fluctation. The thickness values of layers that are calculated before the stabilisation of subgrade is compared with the subgrade which is observed to have an increased CBR value. AASHTO method is used with different traffic loads in determining the thicknesses' of said layers. The approximate cost of highway is calculated by using 2016 unit prices of both situations and it is proven that new situation has economic benefits. Key Words: AASHTO 86, soil stabilization, C60B2, cost.
