The use of kabak violin in zeybek performance: Practical analysis of finger and bow techniques

It has been observed that there has been an increase in the use of method books and etude books in the context of instrument education in Turkey, accompanied by a notable intensification of studies. It has been suggested that the books published under the name of Bağlama Method are prepared as repertoire books rather than method and technique books. This could potentially lead to certain issues in terms of the scientific approach to the subject. In this research, the kabak kemane, one of the colour instruments of Turkish folk music, and playing techniques according to regions were examined, and how to apply the zeybek style to the kabak kemane as a bow and finger technique was discussed as the focus of the research. In the spirit of scientific exploration and advancement, an examination of the existing kabak kemane methods was conducted, drawing upon a rich array of literature on the subject. In accordance with the research focus, the extant kabak kemane methods were examined through a review of the extant literature. Moreover, the zeybek style's bağlama tezene strokes and variations of these tezene strokes were examined. It was investigated how to apply the zeybek style's tezene strokes in bağlama performance on the kabak kemane instrument and how to reflect this application to the notation.
