Mentally disabled Turkish adaptation of society's attitudes towards women's sexuality scale: A validity and reliability study

Aim: It was aimed to adapt the Scale on Society's Attitudes towards the Sexuality of Women with Intellectual Disabilities into Turkish and to examine its psychometric properties. Material and Method: In the methodologically designed study, data collection forms were applied to 516 people over the age of 18 who volunteered to participate in the research via Google Forms, WhatsApp, Instagram and Facebook, 258 for explanatory factor analysis and 258 for confirmatory factor analysis. Data were collected using the Personal Introduction Form, Disabled Women and Private Life sub-dimension of the Disabled Women Attitude Scale and the Turkish version of the "Society's Attitude Towards the Sexuality of Mentally Disabled Women Scale". The collected data were analyzed using Exploratory Factor Analysis, Confirmatory Factor Analysis, Test-Retest Method, Parallel Form Reliability, Cronbach's Alpha Safety Coefficient, and validity and reliability analyses were performed with SPSS 24 and AMOS 24. Results: The scale was found to consist of 10 items and four sub-dimensions. The total variance explained was 77,37% and the common variance was 65,05%. The factor loadings of the items were found to be well and highly correlated between 0,53 and 0,99. According to confirmatory factor analysis, all fit indices were>0,90 and RMSEA=0,067. Cronbach's α of the scale was found to be 0,70. Cronbach's α values of the sub-dimensions of the scale were found to be between 0,70-0,85. Conclusion: It was concluded that the Turkish form of the Scale of Society's Attitude Towards the Sexuality of Mentally Disabled Women is valid and reliable.
