Abstract (EN)

This study is presented in order to investigate the alteration and the transformation of Zile Fair during the traditional process. There is no enough information about the history of that fair which is originated in old times, so we confined ourselves with studying the traditional elements in the Republic period of Turkey.In this study, it is treated the alteration and the transformation process of Zile Fair, and the effects of the old civilizations in Zile over it. It seemed that in Republic period, the Zile Fair was influenced from the economical and the social-cultural alterations. We examined the titles such as planning the fair organization, determination of the fair date, place and period of that activity, carrying out the campaign of advertisement, solving problems such as, food, drink and encamping, and also ensuring the security, during the preparation process. It concluded that the practices and their continuousness contributed to traditional process of the Zile Fair.It is also treated the entertainments of fair by analyzing the Zile Fair culturally. In this context, the entertainments are classified as the Republic-, the traditional- and the modern ones, and local entertainments are treated into those groups. It seemed that the entertainments, which have an important position into the fair tradition, carry on by changing itself according to the age conditions.The Zile Fair is a trading atmosphere which the accumulation of production is exhausted. It also concluded that this traditional trading atmosphere contributed the town to modernize itself.In this context, it also examined the traditional occupations, hand crafts, the foods which became widespread and an imaginary thing by that fair, and the relation between the winter preparations and that fair organization. Conclusively, it seems that the fair affected the cultural texture of Zile town.If the folkloric elements, which came into existence in the context of fair, is treated one by one, it concludes that the commercial fairs formed entirely a tradition.Key words: The Zile Fair, tradition, entertainment, shopping, folklore
