Abstract (EN)
Treatment with a biphosphonate was found to be associated with a significantly increased risk for cardiac arrhythmia in a few studies. A recent study showed that once-yearly infusions of intravenous zoledronic acid (ZA) significantly increased the risk of serious AF in postmenopausal women with osteoporosis. This study was conducted to determine the frequency of arrhythmia among cancer patients with bone metastases receiving the treatment of zoledronic acid. 37 cancer patients who received zoledronic acid were included. 12-lead ECG recordings were done before and after the zoledronic acid administration. The mean age of patients was 49 (26- 80) years. Twenty one female and sixteen male patients were enrolled to this study. By using Bazzet Formula, corrected QT interval (QTc), QT dispersion (QTd), P dispersion were calculated. In whole patients group, there were no differences in QTc, QTd, P dispersion measurements. So we conclude that there is no increase in the risk of AF frequency in cancer patients who were treated with intravenous ZA. Key words: Zoledronic acid, QT dispersion, corrected QT, P dispersion
