Kurân'da (rüşd) kelimesinin semantik analizi / Semantic analysis of the concept of al-Rushd in the Holy Qur'an

Concepts are containers which hold and represent ideas, thoughts, the rules which sciences are built upon, the foundations by which knowledge is established, and they are the symbol of civilizations, by which a person's view of what is around him is determined, and through it he sees the world. One of the most foundemental concepts are the Holy Qur'an's concepts which determine the men vision of the universe, life, and man. AL-Rushd was one of these important Qur'anic concepts, which should be known and studied. Therefore, this study examines and studies the concept of AL-Rushd. It will studied it according to the Qur'anic vision that represented in the Makki and Madni phases, and what preceded it or followed it according to cosmic and legislative laws. The study of the concept AL-Rushd will be according to the semantic analysis methodology, and it will follow the lexical contexts of the concept in the period prior to the revelation of the Qur'an, whether in the lexicon of the Christians and Jews or in pre-Islamic poetry, and what came to us from the speech of the Arabs, as well as in the Qur'anic context represented in the phase in which the revelation was revealed. Then studied the concept in the period following the revelation of the Qur'an, whether in Arabic dictionaries, or in the books of commentators, or other ancient and modern scholars , in order to understand the Qur'anic purpose in the discourse of the concept, with its synchronic and basic semantics at the time of revelation. The study looks for the semantics of the word (AL-Rushd) as a central word, and the words surrounding it synonymous or antonymous.More over, it creat knowledge network for the concept of (AL-Rushd) in order to reach the meaning of the concept in the Qur'anic lexicon because the structure of the word (AL-Rushd) in the Holy Qur'an has a field of knowledge of its own which distinguishes it from other concepts in other dictionaries. The concept of "AL-Rushd" in the Holy Qur'an has its own semantics that acquired it through the contexts which the word was mentioned in it , and search for the connection of these words with each other where it formed a speacial knowledgeable network for the concept, and this network is linked to other networks of the other concepts. These networks form the Qur'anic lexicon through which the Muslim sees man, universe, and defines his relationship with Almighty God. This study is a thesis submitted for obtaining a master's degree in Islamic Studies from Istanbul University. It consists of: An introductory introduction of semantics science, then talking about the concept in the historical dictionaries, then in the context of its immediate significance during the revelation, and its sequential semantics in the period that followed the revelation.
