Effect of ocean sound on 0-3 months old babies diagnosed with infantille colic

The study was conducted to determine the effect of ocean sound on the crying and sleep duration of infants and the mean score of the infant colic scale in infants diagnosed with infantile colic aged 0-3 months. The population of the study consisted of 0-3-month-old infants and their families who came to Darıca Farabi Training and Research Hospital Pediatrics Outpatient Clinic. The sample of the study consisted of 61 infants (30) in the ocean sound group and 31 (31) in the control group, who were diagnosed with colic, aged 0-3 months, crying more than 3 hours a day, passed the hearing test in routine examination, and did not have any physiological problems, selected by random sampling method. The study was conducted between June 2023 and October 2024. Descriptive Data Form, Infantile Colic Scale, Crying Time Recording Form, Sleep Time Recording Form, sound decibel measurement application and cell phone were used as data collection tools. A significant difference was found in favor of the intervention group in terms of crying and sleep duration of the intervention and control group infants (p<0.05). No significant difference was found between the groups in terms of colic scale (p>0.05). In the experimental study designed with two groups, it was found that ocean sound is an effective non-pharmacological method in increasing sleep duration, decreasing crying time and calming infants with colic in 0-3 months old infants.
