Investigation of the opinions of the parents of 0-3 years old child with hearing loss and the professionals attending the education process

In this study, the opinions of parents with a 0-3 year old child with hearing loss and teachers and audiologists who provide education to the child and his family who received education in the early intervention process, were examined. The research was designed as phenomenology, one of the qualitative research methods. The participants of the study consist of eight parents who have children with hearing loss between the ages of 0-3 and who received training in the relevant process, ten teachers who provided them with training, and three audiologists. The data of the study were collected using semi structured interviews, researcher diary, documents and participant information form. The data were analyzed by inductive analysis method. As a result of the interviews with the teachers and audiologists, the findings related to the pre-training preparations, the training process and the suggestions to increase the quality were reached. Findings consisting of the themes of pre-educational expectations, educational process and suggestions to increase quality were obtained from the parents' opinions. In this direction, it has been determined that there are practice differences between teachers and audiologists, both within themselves and between professional groups, such as continuing education directly with the child or continuing it as family education. It is thought that the research can contribute to the field in terms of drawing a general view of the educational practices that 0-3 years old children with hearing loss benefit from in the early intervention step and pointing out the needs in practice.
