Özet (EN)
Objective: This study aimed to investigate the effect of planned training given to parents of children aged 0–6, on the knowledge and practices of first aid for home accidents. Materials and Methods: Our randomized-controlled type study was conducted in the Department of Pediatric Health and Diseases at Manisa Celal Bayar University Hafsa Sultan Hospital. The sample of the study was consisted of a total of 100 parents with children aged 0-6 as the Study Group (n = 50) and Control Group (n =50). In collecting study data; three forms were used which were "Parent Introduction Form", "Child Introduction Form" and "First Aid Knowledge Level Measurement Form". A survey form was applied to the parents included in the study group before the first aid training. After the planned training on "First Aid for Parents in Home Accidents" given by the researcher, the same survey form was re-applied before discharge of the study group parents' children to evaluate the effectiveness of the training. A survey was also administered to the parents in the control group. However, the same survey form was administered again before the discharge of the children, without first aid training for home accidents. In evaluating the data obtained from the study; number, percentage distrubition and descriptive statistics were used to describe demographic characteristics and Chi-Square test was used to evaluate the homogeneity of the groups. The normal distrubuted of the data was examined with the Shapiro Wilk test. For normally distributed data, t test was used in dependent groups, and for non-normally distributed data, Mann Whitney U test and Wilcoxon Signed Ranks were used. Kuder Richardson 20 reliability coefficient was calculated for the First Aid Knowledge Level Measurement Form before and after the training. Results: When the study and control groups included in the research were compared according to the sociodemographic characteristics of the parents and their children, it was determined that there was no statistically significant difference between the two groups. When the accident related information of the children who had a home accident in the Study and Control groups was compared, it was found that there was no statistically significant difference between the two groups. It was determined that there was no significant difference between the mean scores of the parents in the Study and Control groups before the training on the first aid knowledge level measurement form, but there was a significant difference between the mean scores after the training. It was found that the average scores of the parents in the study group were higher than the average scores of the parents in the Control group. Conclusion: It was observed that the knowledge and practices of parents of children aged 0–6 years, concerning first aid in home accidents, were increased with planned training and that planned training was effective on parents.
