Abstract (EN)

In this research, the stability constants of metal complexes of previously synthesised [1-(1H-Benzimidazol-2-yl)-Ethanone Tiosemicarbozone ligand were determined and their magnetic measurements were performed. The stability constants of the metal complexes were determined by using a spectroskopic method (Job). For a given ligand the stability constanf of complexes with metal ions follows the order: Fe2+ < Co3+ < Ni2+ < Cu2+ > Zn2+. This order matches Irving-Williams series of stability. The number of unpair electrons (n) on the metal for each complex was also calculated using relevant equations. It was found that Zn2+, Fe2+ and Co3+ complexes are diamagnetic and Ni2+ and Cu2+ complexes are paramagnetic.2008, 62 pagesKeywords: Thiosemicarbazone, Metal Complex, Magnetic Susceptibility, Stability Constant
