Synthesis of 1,4-bis(3-aminopropyl)piperazine substituted cyclotriphosphazene derivatives and characterization of synthesized compounds with spectroscopic methods

In this study, the reactions of hexachlorocyclotriphosphazene, N3P3Cl6 (1) with di-functional nucleophilic reagent 1,4-bis(3-aminopropyl)piperazine [H2N-(CH2)3-(N-(CH2)2]2 (2) in the presence of NaBH4 were investigated. The reactions were carried out at room temperature and in acetone and THF medium with the molar ratio of N3P3Cl6 (1) and di-functional nucleophile (2) 1:1, 1:2 and 1:3. After the reactions, mono-ansa N3P3Cl4[NH-(CH2)3-N(CH2)2]2 (3), single-bridged {bino-N3P3Cl5[NH-(CH2)3-N(CH2)2]2N3P3Cl5 (4), double-bridged bisbino-N3P3Cl4{[NH-(CH2)3-N(CH2)2]2}2N3P3Cl4 (5) and triple-bridged trisbino-N3P3Cl3{[NH-(CH2)3-N(CH2)2]2}3N3P3Cl3 (6) derivatives were synthesized. The structures of the obtained compounds were elucidated by elemental analysis, FT-IR, TLC-MS, 31P and 1H NMR spectral datas. The structures and physical properties of halogeno-1,4-bis(3-aminopropyl)piperazine substituted cyclotriphosphazene derivatives were extensively discussed. The effect of solvent and temperature on reaction rate, type and amount of product was studied in detail. It is observed that the amount of products decreases or disappears completely if the reactions are carried out above the room temperature.
